LUSH. June 13, 2011

Oh my gosh. So to start off with, summer is finally here and I can post all the time! :) Yayy, who knows, maybe I’ll even have a video coming your way soon. Check back!

So anyway, my friend and I went to the mall this weekend to kick of summer. And of course, we had to go to Lush. Now if you don’t know what Lush is, it’s basically the best place in the world. They sell handmade cosmetics, mainly soap, bath bombs, and other things for your body and hair. They also have lip balm and perfume. When you walk into the store, or even walk near it, you just smell the most amazing scents in the world. I’m not even exaggerating, haha.

While I was there, I picked up one bath bomb and one bath melt. The bath melt was the “You’ve Been Mangoed!” one. The smell is so incredible, I can’t even begin to describe it to you. It has a very strong citrus smell, and I love it! You can feel the moisurizing effects even when just picking it up. I haven’t had a chance to use this bath melt yet, and this will be my first one! I’m really excited to use it, and I’ll probably cut it into a thirds or so.

The bath melt is made with Mango Butter to moisturize your skin, and Lemongrass oil which is an “antiseptic, deodorant, and toning. In aromatherapy, it is used as an antidepressant and mood lifting oil, as well as for problem skin.”

The bath bomb that I got was an avocado bath bomb. Whenever I use anything avocado on my skin, it seems to just make everything better. This bath bomb is seriously GIANT, which is why I’m looking forward to use it. I was reading the reviews, and apparently this bomb is very moisturizing, even more so than Butterball! Wow, that would be amazing. This bomb also has the lemongrass oil in it, and obviously avocados.

I think I’ll use the bath melt first, just because I live in a very hot environment, especially during the summer months. Bath melts are designed to melt at room temperature, so I’m afraid it’s going to liquify on me! I’ll let you guys know my thoughts when I get out of the bath. :)

Love always,

Claireee.

Have a great summer!

L’Oreal Refreshing Eye Make-Up Remover May 3, 2011

I used to use Neutrogena’s eye makeup remover pads, until I found this. This product comes packaged in an adorable little bottle, and is super gentle. With other liquid makeup removers, you can visibly see the oil, water, and overall grease separating inside the bottle, which I think is so gross. But with this formula, there’s none of that whatsoever which eliminates the greasy feeling at the end. This product is only 5 to 6 dollars. It’s fantastic. It also completely removes my makeup, including waterproof mascara. I am a contact lens wearer, and this has proved to be just fine. There’s no stinging, and, just like the description says, it truly does leave your eyes feeling refreshed. This is the best eye makeup remover I have used. Ever.

Would I recommend this to a friend? Absolutely.

How many stars? 5 out of 5!

Revlon ColorStay Foundation April 30, 2011

A few days ago I ran out of my old Neutrogena SkinClearing foundation, and I decided that I would try something different this time. I went to Target, and I settled on the Revlon ColorStay foundation which was about $10. (I saw it at Wal-Mart the next day for about $9). Anyways, as an overall product I like it. However, it does have it’s pros and cons. Oh, and my shade is 220 Natural Beige in case you were wondering.

The Overall Look: The first day I used it, I just did an experiment. I wore it all day without primer, and without anything to set it with. The description claims that this product lasts for 16 hours…no way. If that was true, it would be awesome, but it’s not. Without any primer or anything it just comes right off. However, today and yesterday I didn’t use primer again (I usually don’t) but I used my Elf setting spray ($3). I love that stuff. I spray it about 3 times before I apply my makeup, and about 3-5 times after. It really makes an obvious difference in how long my makeup stays. Oh, and I also used my NYC foundation to set it. But I barely have to touch it up! Including my eyes. Combined with that, I had a MUCH better result. My foundation lasted for the entire 16 hours.

The Liquidy-ness: This is a problem. Every day I mix a little foundation with a little drop of Mac Strobe Liquid to add a certain glow to my face. For this, it’s required that I pour a some into my hand, a wedge, or some other surface that allows me to mix the two together. This foundation literally just GUSHES out of the bottle. There is no pump, and when you go to get the slightest amount out, you have a giant glob of it. I’m still trying to figure out how to make this work. Any ideas? I’m thinking next I’ll try dumping it onto a wedge upside down and then mixing it on that. If that even made any sense whatsoever…haha.

Coverage: It actually gives you decent coverage. I think it’s better compared to the Neutrogena foundation I was using before. If you get too much though, it will appear “cakey.” Not too bad, though. Like I said, I mix it with Mac’s Strobe Liquid which thins it out a little, but I only do it for the highlight. Trust me, this product does NOT need to be thinned. That’s the one major drawback to the foundation.

Recommend to a friend? Yes, if they’re willing to spend a little extra time to use primer or something else to set their makeup with.

How many stars? 4 out of 5

Hope this was helpful! :)

Love you guys,

Update! April 26, 2011

I just did the Clay Face Mask that I was talking about in the last post. It’s AMAZING. It makes my skin feel so tight, and while it’s on you can really feel the mask pulling the impurities out of your pores. It’s really quick too. It’s just an avocado mask. It’s bright green and goes on like a lotion. Then you just let it dry. I brushed my teeth while it was drying for two minutes. Then you wash it off with warm water. It’s not hard to wash off either! Ahh, I love it. My face feels so smooth, soft, tight, and just great. This product was only three dollars and I totally recommend it! :) I’ll post the link again:

New haul! April 26, 2011

Okay, so I know I totally broke my promise of posting more often. Buttt, I promise I’m still here! Haha, okay so let’s get started. I got some of these items at Target, some at Wal-Mart, and a few others as gifts. But I think the gifts were from Target too. Oh, and I’ll also throw in my Mac Strobe Liquid. From Mac, obviously.

First up? Freeman Beauty’s Facial Clay Mask with Avocado and Oatmeal. The first few items I just got today, so I haven’t had a chance to use them yet. Honestly, I don’t like the smell of avocado OR oatmeal, but this product genuinely smells good. I’m so excited to use it! It says, “This rich clay mask, with added oatmeal and Vitamin E, draws out excess oils and dirt, purging clogged pores, leaving your skin clean and soft.” This product was super cheap too! About $3. And I can personally vouch for the amazing results from oatmeal. I made my own homemade oatmeal and apple mask and it worked crazy good. I’ll update when I use it! I got this at Wal-Mart.

Product number two! Natural Bronzer by Rimmel London. I really wanted a new matte bronzer with absolutely no sparkles. This might have a SLIGHT tint of shine, but barely at all. At $4, it’s perfect! The wrapping reads “Natural Bronzer with minerals. Gives face a sunkissed glow. Dermatologically tested.” The shade I got is 022 Sun Bronze. If you order online and want the matte, get this shade. Otherwise, go to an actual store because some shades are VERY glittery. Like over the top glitter, haha. I also bought this from Wal-Mart. Gotta love Wal-Mart. :)

Link: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?skuId=2141727&productId=xlsImpprod2960199&navAction=push&navCount=1&categoryId=cat80030

Lucky number 3! The third item is an angled blush brush that I’ve been wanting for a while. It was only $5! I believe the brand is Paris Presents. It’s not really clearly stated on the packaging. The bristles are SO soft, I can’t even explain how amazing they are through my computer. It’s also a full size brush, not travel! $5 for excellent quality! “High-definition is the latest technology in color cosmetics, developed for glamorous, picture-perfect results. This brush, with its tapered cut and quality design, works perfectly to give you that celebrity look every day.” So excited! Another Wal-Mart purchase.

Annnd fourth! Mac Strobe Liquid! I’ve been wanting this forever. Yes, it is a little bit on the more expensive side, but it’s Mac, you’ve got to expect that, haha. It’s so beautiful! I mix it with my every day foundation and it gives a beautiful glow. I have dry skin, and it doubles as a moisturizer which is amazing. I’ve never used the cream before, but the liquid is perfectly light and easy to blend, and doesn’t feel heavy whatsoever. I definitely recommend it! “Blending soft-focus diffusers with iridescent pigments, this ultra-fluid strobe formula produces a soft, radiant light on the skin, reducing the appearance of skin imperfections by providing a natural-looking glow. Refreshing. Spreads on smoothly and absorbs quickly. Leaves the skin looking healthier and more radiant.”

And number five. The next is Clean and Clear Morning Burst Skin Brightening Scrub. I love this too! It really does brighten your skin, but you have to give it a chance. At first your skin looks a little red, but then it brightens right up. I’ve actually started to add this to my night routine, and my skin looks brighter in the morning. I give this a strong recommendation. “Clean & Clear Cleansers Morning Burst Skin Brightening Scrub is a specially designed formula intended for all skin types. It contains skin nutrients and bursting beads that burst with energy, and removes dirt, oil, and impurities deep down to the pores. This scrub, with a blend of caffeine, lemon and papaya, also invigorates your senses and contains microbeads that sweep away dull surface skin. Skin looks instantly brightened, leaving you ready to face the day.” It also contains “bursting beads” which burst on your face to add vitamins and other nutrients.

Sixth! Elf makeup setting spray. I’m in love. My mom gave this to me for Easter, and it’s amazing. As most of you know, I’m a huge fan of Elf makeup. Everything is pretty much $5 and under! I wanted the Skindinavia setting spray for a long time, but this works almost as well! Even though it may not be the absolute high-end best, it still works great and gets the job done. By eyeshadow stays on ALL day, and I’ve also noticed an improvement in the long-wear of my makeup. You just spray it about a foot from your face 2-3 times after your makeup is on. Such a great product! It’s $3. I purchased this at Target, and the only Elf website that carried it that I could find was the UK one. But I definitely suggest that you get this at your local Target or other store that carries Elf.

Link: http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/product~prodID~207.htm

Note: I also got Elf lip gloss..I do NOT recommend. It’s very clumpy, and the brush is no good. I do like their liquid lipstick though. It’s amazing.

I hope this helped!

Love always,

Claire :)

Makeup Haul! January 6, 2011

So, I might start doing hauls in videos so I can show you the products better, but for now I’ll just stick to the blog. What do you think about the videos?

Anyway, most of this is from Target, but I’ll tell you otherwise. So let’s get started, this is probably going to be quite long..but these are fun. (:

Item #1: The first product is the Neutrogena foundation. My color is called fresh beige 70. I am

Neutrogena SkinClearing foundation

absolutely, hands down, in LOVE with this foundation. It is from their SkinClearing line, and is oil-free. I have only been using this for three days, and I have already seen my skin clearing up. I don’t have acne or anything like that by any means, but it does tend to get uneven, and I’ll get a few blemishes. I am a teenager, so that definitely doesn’t help my skin. It says that it’s a blemish treatment (which it definitely is, and does amazingly), and it has Salicyclic acid. The acid helps clear up pimples and blemishes. I can not recommend this product enough. I am absolutely in love with it, seriously buy it. NOW. (: I got it at Target, by the way. But I’m sure you can get it at any local store that sells makeup.

Physicians Formula Green Concealer

Item #2: The second product is a green concealer by Physicians Formula. Green you ask? Yes, green. It comes in a lipstick style form, and you cover your red areas on your skin with the green, and then rub it in. The green cancels out the red, and leaves your skin the natural color. I do like this, but it’s not my favorite. I still recommend it, but I’m not as in love with it as I was with the foundation. I wish that the green was a little more liquidy like the Smashbox green concealer, because I have to work harder to rub this in. Which just makes my skin red again, and kind of defeats the purpose. But for little areas, it does its job. I also got this at Target.

Item #3: The third product is a white eyeliner by Soft Kohl by Rimmel. I have been wanting

Rimmel Soft Kohl White Eyeliner Pencil

white eyeliner for a while now because I just love the way that it makes your eyes pop. I haven’t got the chance to use it yet, but I’ve tried it on my hand, and it draws very clear and nicely. You know that I’m not always such a big fan of old school pencil liners, but this one seems nice and soft. I’m a contact lens wearer, so pencils tend to irritate my eyes more than the crayon kind (which I prefer). But I’m really looking forward to this one. I got it at Target at well.

NYC East Village Nail Polish

Item #4: The fourth product is NYC nail polish. I got this beautiful teal color, and it’s just gorgeous. I currently have a tan, Ulta brand color on my nails, but my next color will be this gorgeous blue, for sure. The color is 206 East Village. This was also bought at Target, and for a great price! It was only a little over $1.

Link: http://www.newyorkcolor.com/products/index.cfm?item=561

Item #5: The fifth product is a facial toner from Best Bath Store. I could go on forever about this place. Their

Pore Refining Facial Toner

products are SO amazing. I love it. It’s called the Pore Refining Facial Toner. It made my skin extremely smooth, and I can feel it working. Their acne gel is also just fantastic at speeding up healing those pesky pimples. You can also log onto their website and order 5 free samples to try out the products before you buy them! And believe me, they’re good sized samples that will last you at least one week. And by then you will be so in love with it you’ll order again immediately. All you have to pay is shipping which is only about $5. I can’t recommend this enough. If you have acne, they’re famous for their acne treatments, and they work like crazy. This website and their products are complete lifesavers. I also recommend their exfoliation product. Basically, I recommend everything they have on their site. And they also reward for loyalty, so you earn points and once you get to a certain amount, you get credit towards your next purchase. I encourage you to go there now! They’re handmade, natural, healing, amazing products that aren’t overpriced. They’re fabulous prices, actually. (And yes, I know I’ve said amazing like a million times in this post, but forgive me, I’m really trying to make a point.) (:

Link: http://www.bestbathstore.com/toners/pore-refining-facial-toner/

I also got a lip gloss from Elf, for $1. Love that brand! There’s not much to review on lip glosses, but I do recommend the brand Elf. Everything is about $5 or less. However, buy it from Target, or another store that carries it. Many people have problems when ordering online, and it’s too much of a hassle. They make great products, but buy them in store. Their customer service isn’t very good, and a lot of people end up not getting their full order because they ran out of stock, but Elf takes the money out of your account as soon as you place your online order. So just save yourself the frustration, and buy in the store! (:

Love always,

Clairee (:

By the way, seriously comment and tell me what you think about video hauls. I’d just upload them to my blog, and then post them here. I think it would be easier and you could see everything better, you know? (: I just might do it..

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse December 23, 2010

Okay. So I’m keeping my promise of posting more often! I swear, I will. (: Dream Matte Mousse (Maybelline New York)

So this product, I also bought from Ulta. It’s a light creamy texture, and goes on very smooth and soft. I originally would apply it to my entire face as a foundation, which was a bad idea. Unfortunately, it caused me to break out. Not bad or anything, just a few more pimples then usual. So of course I stopped using it, and I switched to only using it as a cover up. It works great now! I think that the cream is just too thick, so it was clogging my pores.

The shade I have is Classic Ivory Light 2. It’s a tint lighter than my shade, but when I rub it in it applies and blends just fine. I don’t use the sponge anymore as an applicator, though. I only use my finger. I know that it isn’t as sanitary, but I have clean hands and it’s much more precise this way.

Another complaint I have is that it isn’t oil-free. It works fine for me, but for those with more sensitive skin, it could cause a problem.

There’s a good amount of cream in the container, so you’re getting your money’s worth.

This product comes in several shades. Which are: Cocoa 3, Caramel 2, Honey Beige 4, Medium Beige 3, Pure Beige 2, Sandy Beige 1, Creamy Natural 5, Nude 4, Classic Ivory 2, Porcelain Ivory 1, Light Beige, and Natural Beige. It’s a lot of choices, which can make it tough to buy online. I just kind of took a shot in the dark, and it turned out okay for me. If you’ve bought Mabelline products before, I would recommend seeing what the shade on that product was and matching it.

TIP: Whenever I throw away a foundation or concealer, I always write down the brand and shade on a list that I have. I love to order online, so I always know what is a perfect match for my skin tone.

Bottom line: I would recommend it to a friend, but if they had sensitive skin or acne, I would have to tell them to try something else like Ulta Color Instincts foundation which I reviewed yesterday. I’d give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Price: $7.99

Love always,

Clairee (:

P.S. The next few days are going to be pretty stressful around my house. We’re hosting Christmas! So if I don’t get a post up the next couple days, I’m sorry! But I’ll try my best. (: Maybe I’ll go pre-write it now..

Anyways, Merry Christmas! <3

Ulta Color Instincts December 23, 2010

Oh my gosh. You guys! I am so sorry. I have just been completely swamped with school lately, and I’ve been so stressed it’s crazy. My math teacher gave me 50 pages to do! Luckily, most of it is extra credit. And I have to finish a book and do quote charts, and build a museum. Yeah, my history teacher is nuts. All over break too! How rude.Shade-Adjusting!

But anyway, enough ranting for now. I’m going to start reviewing products, so I’m going to start with beauty & makeup products. The first is something that I recently ordered from Ulta. It’s called Ulta Color Insticts. (Hence the title, haha)

This foundation is the shade-adjusting type, and it goes on white and creamy and automatically changes to fit your skin tone! And it’s actually been working for me great! The foundation that I use underneath is a tad tanner than my regular skin tone, and it blends just perfectly. If I decide to only wear it as a foundation alone, then it also fits my tone perfectly. It’s worked well.

The one thing I don’t like about it however, is the smell. It is fragrance free as well as oil free, so it’s good for your skin too. There aren’t any oils or other chemicals that will cause you to break out. Unless you have extreme sensitive skin, of course. Therefore, the smell isn’t exactly ideal, but it’s not absolutely horrible. It’s definitely worth it.

My shade is light/medium. There are only three shades to choose from because it’s shade-adjusting. Which is why this product is perfect for online buying, because it’s just your general shade, so you can be more sure without having to test it in the store.

Bottom line: I’d recommend it to a friend, and I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Price: $12.50

Oh geez. November 10, 2010

Filed under: School — claireebear @ 7:37 am

Oh my gosh! I haven’t been on here for an entire month! School has been ridiculous. Sorry, guys! Too much homework :/ And when will we ever need to know any of this in life? Ever? That’s right. NEVER. Bahhhh. Okay, so here was my day.

First: Chemistry: Did another lesson, more problems and equations. It’s like having two math classes! I don’t understand sciencee. And then we watched a video and answered questions about it. We all had to make our own periodic tables, and my teacher is getting them laminated today. And we have to give an oral presentation on an element. My element is sodium. And I’m presenting December 3rd. Yay! After Thanksgiving break. (: Wish me luck! Or break a leg as we say in theater. (:

Second: P.E.: Yupp, my teacher wasn’t here again. She hasn’t been here for one whole week now. She just randomly disappears all the time. I don’t understand where she goes, and why she doesn’t get fired. She’s done this forever, ugh, stupid unions. She’s an awful teacher too!

Third: Honors English: In this class, we’re reading the book Night. It’s a true story written by a holocaust survivor about the holocaust. My friend started crying in class today when we finished it. It’s so sad. :(

Fourth:  Honors World History: This class is ridiculously hard. We had to make a flowchart of Louis XVI’s call to the Estates General and how that led to the end of feudalism. Whoopdedoo. Then we took like ten pages of notes. She moves so fast, you can’t even understand her lectures. BAH. And she writes in cursive, so you can’t read her handwriting. And she’s crazy so when you ask her about she just says “well the nuns gave me an A+ in penmenship.” Yeah, that’s great. But NO ONE CAN READ CURSIVE.

Fifth: Algebra 2: Okay. So we’re doing imaginary numbers with radicals and factoring now. Yeah. Enough said. I’m going to die. Because you know, this will totally be useful in life. When people randomly ask me questions about the square root of negative imaginary numbers. Oh yes. That’ll come in handy for sure.

Sixth: Spanish 2: Ahhh, too many new verbs! At least this class is fun though. This and P.E., definitely my two favorites. Plus my teacher’s daughter and I go to the same acting school, so we kind of have something in common. That always helps. Hahah. (:

By the way, do you guys get Thursday off for Veteran’s day? We do, but my friend gets Thursday AND Friday off. I’m so jealous! :/

Love always,

Clairee.

P.S. I’m SO SORRY it’s been so long. I’ll begin posting more often. I promise, follow me on Twitter. (:

Follow meee! (:
